1. Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to Homeloom's website, mobile applications, family memory services, communications, and related features that link to this policy. It does not apply to third party websites, app stores, device platforms, or services that Homeloom does not control.
2. Information We Collect
We collect information you provide directly, information created through your use of Homeloom, and limited technical information needed to operate and protect the service.
- Account information: name, email address, password or authentication details, profile photo, account preferences, and family role.
- Family space information: family group names, invitations, invited members, relationships you choose to add, permissions, and shared settings.
- Family content: photos, videos, captions, comments, reactions, stories, dates, locations you choose to add, events, milestones, traditions, recipes, and other memories you upload or create.
- Live Event Tracking information: precise device location, location accuracy, timestamps, and current sharing state when you deliberately choose Share my location for a family event and grant the required device permission.
- Communications: messages you send to us, support requests, feedback, survey responses, and launch update requests.
- Usage and device information: app interactions, log data, device type, operating system, browser type, approximate region, diagnostics, crash reports, and security events.
- Purchase information: if paid features are offered, payment status and subscription details may be processed by Apple, Google, or another payment provider. We do not receive full payment card numbers from app store processors.
3. How We Use Information
We use information to provide, maintain, personalize, and improve Homeloom; create and manage family spaces; store and display family memories; send invitations and service messages; provide customer support; protect against abuse, fraud, and unauthorized access; comply with legal obligations; and communicate about product updates when you choose to receive them.
4. Static Places and Optional Live Device Location
A place you attach to an event or memory is static location content that remains with that item. Live device location is different: it is used only for Live Event Tracking after you deliberately enable sharing for a particular event and grant the applicable device permission.
RSVPing Going never starts location sharing. An eligible family member must separately select Share my location. While sharing is active, Homeloom uses current precise location, accuracy, timestamps, and sharing state to display that member on the relevant Live Event Map, keep authorized family members informed while traveling to or attending the event, and operate and secure the sharing session.
You can stop sharing from the event. Sharing also expires with the event lifecycle, and an expired event cannot start a new sharing session. If you explicitly allow background location, Homeloom may continue receiving updates while the app is in the background or the device is locked so the event map can keep working. Availability after backgrounding or force-quitting depends on iOS or Android permissions and restrictions. Homeloom does not continuously track your device by default, sell live location, or use it for advertising.
5. Family Content and Private Sharing
Family content is private by default. Content you add to a family space is visible to the family members and guests who have access to that space, according to the permissions selected by the family organizer or other authorized members. Please invite only people you trust, and only upload content you have the right to share.
Live Event Tracking is available only to authorized members of the relevant Premium family under Homeloom’s access controls. Free families do not receive real live-location coordinates; any locked preview is synthetic. Because no online service can guarantee absolute security, share live location only in family spaces containing people you trust.
6. Optional Assistant Features
Homeloom may offer optional tools that help with storytelling, planning, or photo guidance. These tools process only the content or prompts you choose to provide for that feature. We do not use private family content to train general models unless we first ask for and receive your affirmative consent. If a third party service provider helps operate an optional tool, we require it to protect personal information consistently with this Privacy Policy.
7. How We Share Information
We share information only in the ways described below.
- With your family space: family content and profile details are shared with invited members according to your family space settings. Current live location is shown only to authorized members of the relevant Premium family/event while the sharing session is active.
- With service providers: vendors may help us provide hosting, database storage and realtime synchronization, security, mapping, analytics, customer support, email delivery, payment processing, and similar operational services. Homeloom currently uses Supabase for service infrastructure, Google Maps to render mapping features, and Firebase Analytics for limited usage analytics. Apple and Google device services support permission and platform location functionality. These providers process information as needed to perform their services and under their applicable terms and privacy practices.
- For legal and safety reasons: we may disclose information if required by law, legal process, or a good faith belief that disclosure is necessary to protect rights, safety, security, or prevent harm.
- Business transfers: if Homeloom is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to appropriate protections.
- With consent: we may share information in other ways when you direct us to do so or give us permission.
We do not sell personal information. We do not share personal information for cross context behavioral advertising without providing any notice and choice required by law.
8. Analytics
Homeloom may record privacy-conscious usage events about Live Event Tracking, such as when the map or a preview is opened, sharing starts or stops, permission is denied, or an error occurs. Precise coordinates and GPS route history are not intentionally sent to Firebase Analytics.
9. Children's Privacy and Family Consent
Homeloom is built for families, including parents and guardians who may preserve memories involving children. Children under 13, or the equivalent minimum age in their location, should use Homeloom only with the involvement and consent of a parent or legal guardian. Parents and guardians are responsible for supervising a child’s participation, managing device permissions, deciding whether live location sharing is appropriate, and controlling who can access the family space. Homeloom does not silently enable live tracking for a child or any other member.
If you believe a child provided personal information without appropriate consent, contact us and we will take reasonable steps to review and delete the information where required. Homeloom will seek to comply with applicable children's privacy laws, including COPPA, GDPR, and similar requirements where they apply.
10. Retention and Deletion
We keep personal information for as long as needed to provide Homeloom, maintain your account, preserve family spaces you participate in, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and protect the service. You may request deletion of your account and associated personal information through the app settings when available or by contacting us. Deletion may not immediately remove backup copies, legal records, or content that another family member independently controls, but we will process deletion requests within a reasonable period required by applicable law.
Live Event Tracking is designed around temporary, current location state—not a permanent travel record. Stopping sharing removes the active event-location state according to the service’s implementation, and sharing automatically expires with the event lifecycle. Homeloom does not intentionally preserve ordinary Live Event Tracking as a historical GPS trail or turn it into a memory. Limited copies may remain temporarily in backups, logs, or systems where reasonably necessary for security, legal compliance, or service recovery.
11. Your Choices and Rights
You may update account details, manage family invitations and permissions, opt out of marketing emails, and request access, correction, export, restriction, objection, or deletion of personal information. Depending on your location, you may have additional rights under state, federal, or international privacy laws. We will not discriminate against you for exercising privacy rights.
12. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information. No online service can guarantee absolute security, so please use a strong password, protect your devices, and be thoughtful about whom you invite into a family space.
13. International Availability
Homeloom is launching with a United States first focus and may later become available worldwide. Information may be processed in the United States and other countries where we or our service providers operate. When required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers.
14. Third-Party Services
Homeloom may link to or integrate with third party services, app stores, device platforms, or payment providers. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, not this Privacy Policy.
15. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If changes are material, we will provide notice through the service, by email, or by another appropriate method. The effective date above shows when this policy was last updated.
16. Contact Us
